In the Buddha’s time, there was a lay devotee living in Nalika village in Savatthi, making a living by farming. One day, the lay devotee saw Venerable Revata and became faithful in him. The devotee invited the Venerable to his house and offered him with cloth and food. When he died, he was reborn as a devaputta in Tavatimsa heaven, surrounded by 1,000 angels, and owned a 12 high gold castle. Once, Venerable Maha Moggallana ascended to the heaven and saw the devaputta with a lot of wealth. So he asked the devaputta what meritorious act did he have done to have so much wealth? The devaputta then told the story of his previous life that he had performed a meritorious act with Venerable Revata to the Venerable.
