The story of a golden King Swan. While residing at the Jetavana Monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha mentioned about the dauntlessness of Anandha Thera while protecting the Buddha from the harming of Nalagiri, the excellent elephant, and described the story of a previous life. When Ananda Thera was born as a minister named Sumukha of a Phaya Hong (a king swan). Sumukha sacrificed his life to protect the king swan while being attached the hunter’s snare. The Buddha praised Anandha Thera as the one who did what others could not do. Chao Somdet Yatsapannya had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Hongphakham, to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May our wishes and desires come true. Nibbāna is the greatest bliss.
