Rewards derived from offering the white rice to the Buddha. In the Budda’s time, there was a monk who was sick with the swollen cheeks on both sides. The monk had the religious faith to bring a bag of white rice to offer to the Buddha. When the Buddha accepted the rice, he gave blessings and preached a sermon to the monk, said, “You are sick with the swollen cheeks because of the results of bad deed, In one of your previous lives, you had jealousy and blamed on a noble one who was pure morality. In this life, when you donated the white rice to me, the cycle of the results deed is stopped right now. Due to the results of the merit of offering rice to the Buddha and lisitening to his preaching, the monk was cured of the swollen cheeks immediately. Colophons: (1) Folio 13 on the verso side: Mahachunlasangkat 2 thousand 5 hundred and 3 (corresponding with BE 2503), the writing was accomplished at the time of thae kòng thiang (between 9.00–10.30 o’clock), on the nao day of the fifth lunar month. Thit (ex-monk) Mi and his wife, Sao Tun together with all their children sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Sòng Khaosan to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May two of us be reborn in the heaven and enter Nibbāna definitely. May this be a condition for me to reach Nibbāna constantly and certainly. Amen! I rejoice. (2) Folio 14 on the recto side: Thit (ex-monk) Mi from the village of Sangkhalok. On the other hand, even if two of us have been stuck in a misery place, move us to a good place. May this be a condition for me to reach Nibbāna constantly and certainly. Amen! I rejoice.
