The content tells when King Bimbisara offered food to the Buddha and his disciples at his palace in Rajagaha, but forgot to dedicate the results of the merit to his relatives who died. At the night, while sleeping the king heard the strange noises of dreadful cries and became very frightened. In the coming morning, the king told the noises to the Buddha. The Buddha explained him that was the voice of petas who were ever your relatives in the past existences and wanted to be released from their suffering. They had expected you to dedicate the results of the merit to them, but you did not. They were extremely distressed and lamented their lost hope. Therefore, the king made the alms-giving one more time and dedicated the result of the merit to those petas. When the petas received the merits, they were free form being the petas. Later, the king offered the Buddha his bamboo garden called Veluvana along with the buildings in the garden in order to be the stay of the Buddha and monks.
