On the 5th day of the week (Thursday), the second day of the waning moon of the 7th lunar month in Cullasakkarat (CS) 1225, a ma mae year (Year of the Goat). There was a Uthong king in Hongsavadi city, he sent the message to Si Ayutthaya kingdom to inform the royal king that there is a city called Chiang Nuea located in the north west, named Hongsavadi. A noble monk said that it is the city of our Lord Buddha. When the Buddha was staying in Lanka, there were two monks who were quarrelling. The Buddha spoke to them to stop, but they did not follow. The Buddha then moved to Hongsavadi and met a king named Phanya Si Dhamma Ashoks Phothirat who later built Malayya Pagoda for the Buddha. Colophon: Folio 14 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa (CS) 00002 hudred and 515 (corresponding with CS 1255), a tao si year, on a huang day, a Thursday, [the writing was accomplished] at the time of thae kai thiang (between 9.00–10.30 o’clock). Pho Thit Nya and his wife had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled That Müang Hongsavadi (the stupa of the city of Hongsavadi) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May we be free from the results of bad deeds and the retributions. May we reach the three states of happiness with Nibbāna as the ultimate goal.
