The content tells about ghosts, which means the human beings who had done unwholesome deeds. After death, they will go to hell. After the hell, they will become ghosts with unusual shapes, strange, starved and hungry. There is a belief that those who did not perform good deeds during alive but commited only bad deeds. After death, they will go to hell called dugati-bhūmi (unhappy planes) with suffering and painful feeling. For those who had performed meritorious deeds with alms giving, observing the precepts and practicing meditation, after death, they will be reborn in the heaven called sugati-bhūmi (happy planes). Colophon: Folio 32 on the recto side: Chunlasangkatrasa 2 hundred and 809 (corresponding with CS 1280), a poek sanga year, on the fifth day of the waxing moon of the ninth lunar month, the second day of the week (Monday), the writing was accomplished at noon. Sao (Ms) Pa and her husband together with her children, siblings and sisters thought of their father and mother, jointly bought the palm leaves and sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Phet Nahok Hamhai (the misery beings cry) to support the Teachings of the Buddha. Ones who passed away are our father named Ai Ta and our mother named Sao Bua. Even if they have been stuck in a misery place, move them to a good place. If they have already been in a good place, support them more better than ever.
