On one occasion, the Buddha was dwelling in his abode spoke to his disciples about his perfection of giving, as the cause of this sermon. When the Bodhisattva was born as the royal son of Queen Rattanagabbhavadi Rajadevi, the wife of King Mekkhevadi. Once, when the city was flooded, Queen Rattanagabbhavadi, who was being pregnant, was separated from her husband and lived in a pavilion in the forest, and gave birth to the bodhisattva named Chanthapasot (Candapajoti). One day, she went into the forest to find fruit and was caught by Giant Sena who would eat her as food. When the Bodhisattva found out, he went to help his mother. He took out his heart for the giant to exchange for his mother. Indra came to help defeat the giant and brought the divine medicine to pour on the body of Chanthapasot and made him resurrect. Finally, Chanthapasot and his mother returned to the city and became the ruler instead of the father. Later, he became an ascetic performing perfection. After the death, he was born in the Brahma world.
