Gamanican Jataka refers to the Bodhisatta who was born as the son of King Janasanda, the ruler of Varanasi, named Adasamukkha Kumara. With his genius, he was able to judge cases accurately and fairly. When the prince was only seven years old, his father passed away, he was the successor of his father to the throne. At the time, there was an old man named Gamanican who used to be a servant of late King Janasanda. After the reign of the former king, he moved to the countryside and became a farmer. Gamanican was later charged with four cases. A first with stealing a cow from a villager, a second with the murder of a friend’s son, a third with a broken horse leg, and a fourth with the murder of a matman. When Gamanican was accused as a defendant, he travelled with the four plaintiffs, heading to the capital to be tied by the king. On the way, 10 people left their letters with Gamanican to court to stand trial, for a total of 14 cases. The king judged the cases by himself. Finally, Gamanican appeared innocent and won very case.
