ສົງເຄາະເມືອງ ໝາຍເຖິງ ການເຮັດພິທີສົງເຄາະໃຫ້ບ້ານເມືອງ ໃນເມື່ອເກີດເຫດການທີ່ບໍ່ເປັນມຸງຄຸນປາກົດຂຶ້ນ ເພື່ອແກ້ເຄາະນັ້ນ ຈາກຮ້າຍໃຫ້ກາຍເປັນດີ ໃຫ້ບ້ານເມືອງຢູ່ເຢັນເປັນສຸກ. ເນື້ອໃນກ່າວເຖິງ ຊົມພູທະວີບກວ້າງໄດ້ໝື່ນໂຍດຊະນະ ອັນໝາຍເຖິງ ປະເທດອິນເດຍ ປະກອບດ້ວຍ ໑໒໑ ເມືອງ, ນະຄອນ ໑໖ ແລະ ໔ ມະຫານະຄອນ ເຊັ່ນ ພາຣານະສີ, ຣາຊະຄຶ, ສາວັດຖີ ແລະກະບິນລະພັດ; ແລະກ່າວເຖິງເຫດການອັນເປັນອັບປະມຸງຄຸນທີ່ເກີດຂຶ້ນແກ່ບ້ານເມືອງ ແລະປາສາດພະຣາຊະວັງທັງຫຼາຍ ເຊັ່ນ ລົມພັດອູ້ມເອົາປາສາດແລະພະພຸດທະຮູບໜີ; ກາດໍາບິນເຂົ້າປາສາດ; ຜີເມືອງສໍາແດງໃຫ້ປາກົດ ດັ່ງນີ້ເປັນຕົ້ນ.

Songkhò mueang means the exorcise ceremony for the village or city. The ceremony is held when the unauspicious events occurred in order to resolve the problems from misfortune to become fortune. The village or city will be in peace. The content tells Jambūdīpa the continent of the rose-apples with ten thousand yojana of length that means India which consists of 121 districts, 16 cities and 4 kingdoms including Benares, Rajagaha, Savatthi and Kappilavatthu; and also tells the unauspicious happenings occurred in the cities, in the castles and palaces such as the storm blew the castle and the Buddha statue away; a black crow flew into the castle; the spirits of the city appeared; and etc..
