The king of Phathara kingdom had a daughter named Joti Kummari who was beautiful and the aim to get by the kings of other kingdoms. There were three kings who sent the questions to the king of Phathara kingdom to answer. If the king could not answer correctly, the three kings would attack the Phathara kingdom and his daughter would be seized as the wife of one of them. Therefore, the king ordered his ministers to announce to advisors and people if anyone could answer the questions. But nobody could answer. Thus they invited Jotika Kumara, the son of the merchant who had five hundred junks to answer. Finally, Jotika Kumara could answer the questions correctly. So, the king of Phathara kingdom organised the marriage of his daughter with Jotika and also established Jotika as the new king of Phathara kingdom as his successor.
