The rewards derived from the cremation of others. Once in the past, in the time of Kasspa Buddha, there were a group of ten cow boys. On day, while they were feeding their cows, they saw a dead bird. They felt pity it, and together cremated the corpse of the bird. Due to the results of the good deed of the cremation, after death, they all were reborn in a heaven. The Buddha also mentioned that the merit derived from making the cremation of other will support the doers for five kap (eons). Colophon: Folio 18 on the recto side: Buddhist Era 2491, a poek chai year, the thirteenth day of the waxing moon of the first lunar month, a Tuesday. [The writing was accomplished] at the time of the kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). There is Pha Thirachitto (Phui Bupphavichit) from Vat Suvannaphumaram, the capital of Luang Prabang had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript of the Salòng sop khon tai for the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May I reach the three states of happiness that is Nibbāna as the ultimate goal. May I achieve my wishes and desires in the future certainly and constantly. May I obtain the greatest bliss.
