Salakarivisasut or Salakaravisasut is a powerful sutta for getting rid of all diseases and dangers. On one occasion the Buddha was residing at the Gijjhakuta hill in Rajagaha. At that time, the Venerable Ananda was afflicted with a disease, was suffering and greavely ill. The Buddha visited the Venerable Ananda and told him to learn the verse of Salakarivisasut, memorise it and recite it in mind often. It will be useful for you. All diseases and dangers will be suppressed by the power of this Salakarivisasut. Other Buddhas in the past continuingly preached this verse of Salakarivisasut in order to be useful and happy for all bhikkhus, bhukkhunis, lay men and lay women. Colophon: Folio 21 on the verso side: Cunlasangkat 21480 (possible BE 2480), a moeng pao year, the fourteenth day of the waning moon of the first lunar month, and the sixth day of the week (Friday). The writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of the kòng laeng (between 13.30–15.00 o’clock). Sathu Nyai Manda (the mother of the king) had pleasure and the religious faith in the Teachings of Gotama Buddha and together with all her children and grandchildren to sponsor the making of [this manuscript entitled] Salakarivisasut, to prolong the age of the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May I abtain magga (the path), phala (fruition) as the wishes of mine.Nibbāna is the greatest bliss.
