The Dhammapada story, in the time of Kassapa Buddha, a group of the peta (hungry ghosts) were being gotten from their evil action of using the belongings offered to the Sangha. One day, the peta viewed the people making alms giving and dedicated the merits to their ancestors. When the hungry ghosts who ever were their relatives rejoiced with, they immediately received heavenly properties. These peta wished to have so. They asked the Buddha that will they have a chance to receive the heavenly properties like those peta? Kassapa Buddha answered that you could not receive the merit at this time, but will get in the future. In the time of the Buddha named Gotamam, a king named Bimbisara who are your relative will make alms and dedicate the merit to you. Thereafter, you all will get the heavenly properties.
