Bimba Theri tells the story and previous existences of Bimba Bhikkhuni, who was born as the wife of Gotama Bodhisatta until the last existence as Yasothara or Bimba as the wife of Prince Siddhartha, the mother of Rahula. When Prince Siddhartha was ordained, he later attained enlightenment and became our Buddha. Yasothaya was ordained in the bhikkhuni monastery as Bhaddākaccānā Theri. Not long after her ordination, she was seriously practiced and attained enlightenment. She was also able to recalled her previous existences. She also was foremost on superknowledge and master of all female monks. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1238, a hwai chai year, the eighth day of the waxing moon of the sixth lunar month, a poek si day, Sunday, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). The king who lives in the front golden palace, along with his parents and all relatives jointly sponsored the making of this manuscript [entitled] Lam phimphātheri, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
