The content tells Tissa, the great viceroy who was the younger brother of King Asoka was ordained. One day, while walking in the forest, Tissa, the great viceroy met Venerable Maha Yonaka Dhammarakkhita Thera, he asked the Venerable to ordain him as a bhikkhu. The ordination ceremony of Tissa was held at the Asokaram monastery in Pataliputta with the support of King Asoka. The new monk had a Pali name as Tissa bhikkhu. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1181, a kot si year, on the fourteenth day of the waxing moon of the eighth lunar month, a kat sai day, a Saturday, the writing was accomplished at noon. Ai Khem and his wife had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Maha Upakhut luang (The great version of Upakupta) to support the Teachings of the Buddha, for Vat Xiang Yün, to last until the end of the life of the palm leaves.
