In BE 218, King Asoka celebrated his 84,000 stupas for seven years seven months and seven days. At the time, the Mara appeared and destined a heavy rain to destroy the ceremony. Venerable Uppagupta Thera who was living in the ocean world had suppressed the Mara. They both were fighting each other with supernatural power. Finally, the Mara was controlled. The Venerable tied the Mara's neck with a carcass of a dog and attached him the Sumeru Mount until the celebration had fully finished. Then the Venerable gave the Mara freedom. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1181, a kot si year, on the fourteenth day of the waxing moon of the eighth lunar month, a kat sai day, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), the writing was accomplished at noon. Ai Khem and his wife had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Maha Upakhut luang (The great version of Upakupta) to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha, for Vat Xiang Yün, to last until the end of 5000 years.
