The text tells about the first Buddhist Council which was held in Rajagaha three months after the passing away of the Buddha, Venerable Maha Kassapa Thera was the chairperson of the Council along with 500 arahants attended. The Council was sponsored by King Ajatasattu and spent 7 months to completion. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1181, a kot si year, on the fourteenth day of the waxing moon of the eighth lunar month, a kat sai day, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), the writing was accomplished at noon. Ai Khem and his wife had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Maha Upakhut luang (The great version of Upakupta) to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha, for Vat Xiang Yün, to last until the end of 5000 years.
