The text tells about the first Buddhist Council which was held three months after the passing away of the Buddha at the Sattapanni Cave in Rajagaha, with the support of King Ajatasattu, presided over by Mahakassapa Thera. Ananda Thera was invited to describe the discourses and Upali Thera was invited to answer the questions of the Vinaya (Discipline). The council took seven months in completion. There were 500 Arahants attended the council. The content in this manuscript also relates to the Vinaya Pitaka.
