Siddhisāra Jataka. Once upon a time, the Bodhisatta was born as the son of King Brahmadata of Varanasi, named Siddhisāra who had one thousand companies and was wise, brave and did not fear anyone. He liked to fight with other boys and often the boys defeated. They cried and told their parents. Their parents went to report the king. The king was not satisfied and expelled the Bodhisatta from the city. The Bodhisattva traveled to Mithila and stayed there. One day, the king of that city fell ill with his disease and died, but he had no son or daughter to inherit the throne. The priests and people of Mithila established the Bodhisatta as their new king with the royal name of Cakkavattirāja. Since then, the Bodhisatta ruled his kingdom with righteousness, making the kingdom peaceful and fair. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: The initiator, Maha Somdet Akkhavòrasakhu, abbot of Vat Chumkhong temple had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making [of this manuscript] entitled 50 Sāt (Fifty former existences of the Buddha) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana, constantly and certainly, definitely.
