The story of Culadhanuggaha Pandita. Once a young bhikkhu took his alms-food in one of the shelters specially built for bhikkhus in town. After his meal he felt like drinking water. So he went to a house and asked for some drinking water. A young woman came out and gave him some water. As soon as this young woman saw the young bhikkhu she fell in love with him. She asked the monk to leave the monastery and became her husband. The monk also fell in love with her. He wanted to return to the life of a lay man. He could not sleep and eat and was getting thin. Other bhikkhus reported about him to the Buddha. The Buddha called the young bhikkhu to his presence and said to him, "This woman had done the same bad thing with this young monk in the past. By that time, this monk was Culadhanuggaha Pandita went to study in Taxila. He took his teacher’s daughter as his wife. While they were travelling to the man’s house, they confronted a bandit on the way. There was a battle between Culadhanuggaha Pandita and the bandit leader. As Culadhanuggaha Pandita knocked him down, he called out to his wife to hand him the sword. Instead of handing the sword to her husband, she gave it to the bandit leader. Let the bandit leader kill her husband.” Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Sangkat 165 (corresponding with CS 1165), a ka khai year, the thirteenth day of the waning moon of the tenth lunar month, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), a huang hao day, the writing was accomplished at the time of thae kai kham (between 15.00–16.30 o’clock).
