On one occasion, while residing at the Jetavana monastery, the Buddha spoke to his disciples with reference to a woman. There was a rich man in Savatthi took his wife to the countryside to pay off his debts. After the payment was completed while returning on the way, both husband and wive were captured by thieves. His wife was a very beautiful person. The leader of the robbers wanted to kill the husband and take her as his wife. Because he fell in love with her. But because she was a good person with virtues and beautiful manners and respected her husband like a god. So she crouched at the bandit's feet, cried and begged for life for her husband. If otherwise, she would hold her breath until death. Finally the leader of the robbers was soft-hearted and agreed to let her husband go, so both of them traveled to Savatthi in safety. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Sangkat 165 (corresponding with CS 1165), a ka khai year, the thirteenth day of the waning moon of the tenth lunar month, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), a huang hao day, the writing was accomplished at the time of thae kai kham (between 15.00–16.30 o’clock). Saen Kham and his wife had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Tikkanibat, to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna.
