In the time of Buddha, there was a wise man who came to pay respect and asked Kassapa Buddha that some people born in this world are rich and wealthy and some are poor and have nothing to eat. Why is there such a difference? The Buddha said that with the benefits of giving alms and observing the precepts that bring wealth in this life. Even if he gave alms himself or persuaded others to give alms to the monks, he would also receive the benefits. Thereafter, the man invited the Buddha and other 20,000 monks came to receive offerings and food from the people in Varanasi. The man announced to all the rich and wealthy people. Some rich people would take care of 10 monks, some would take care of 100 monks, and some would take care of 1000 monks, depending on their faith. Mae Thao (grandmather) Thi along with her children, reltaives and grandchildren sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Vatthu yòi to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the life span of the palm leaves.
