The rewards derived from making flags to worship the Triple Gem. On one occasion, while residing at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha spoke to his disciples about King Ajitaraja and gave this sermon. At the time, a king named Ajitaraja who ruled Benares. The king was rich. There was thought to make merit. One day the king along with his ministers and followers approached the presence of the Buddha and asked the Buddha that women and men who have faith and made various kinds of flags such as the flags made of iron, silver, gold, with glass, lead, aluminum, cloth and with sand with color papers including white, yellow and red. What results will they gain? The Buddha gave a sermon to the king and his followers related the details. Colophon: Folio 6 on the recto side: Chunlasangkat 2 thousand 5 hundred and 513 (corresponding with BE 2513), a ka mao year, the fourteenth day of the waxing moon of the tenth lunar month, the seventh day of the week (Sunday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Chao (Prince) Suk had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of the manuscripts entitled Sap sai with one fascicle, Song sappha thung with one fascicle, a total of two fascicles to dedicate to my previous parents. May all my wishes and desires come true. Amen! I rejoice.
