The text tells about practicing meditation on keeping the mind become serene in the body. When the mind is stable and does not worry about any thing, the practice will developed into dhutiya-jhana (the second absorption) which has four factors including vicara (sustained application), piti (joy), sukkha (happiness), and ekaggata (one-pointedness). Colophon: Folio 12 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa 1272, a kot set year, the sixth day of the waxing moon of the ninth lunar month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday), a kat pao day, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Chao Bhikkhu Sitthipannya from Vat Sangkhalok together with his father, mother, relatives jointly sponsored the making of these first four manuscripts entitled Satipatthan to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May I reach the three states of happiness with Nibbāna definitely. This is my gift certainly and constantly.
