Atita Buddha Vamsa with the content tells the story of Nara Buddha. The Bodhisatta was born in the royal family of Danyavadi kingdom. His father named King Sudeva and his mother named Queen Anomarajadevi. The Prince was successor to his father and governed the kingdom for 9,000 years. He had three castles called Vijita, Vijitava, and Birama respectively, and 120,000 concubines with Vijita Senadevi as queen. When Queen Vijita Senadevi gave birth to Nanduttara, the prince saw four divine messengers including an old man, a sick man, a dead body and a monk. He then walked to his royal garden and ordained as an ascetic at his garden. Number of one hundred thousand of people followed him. The ascetic had practiced for seven days. On the full moon day of the sixth lunar month the ascetic had a meal of madhupayasa rice offered by his former queen. In the afternoon, the ascetic received eight handfuls of cogon grass from a garden-watchman. The ascetic put the grass as the seat under the Bodhi tree. He attained enlightenment and became a Buddha at the night. Colophon: Folio 26 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa hundred 96 (CS 1196), a kap sanga year, the thirdteenth day of the waning moon of the ninth lunar month, the second day of the week (Monday), a huang mot day, the writing was accomplished in the midday. Chao Somdet Buppha Pannya sponsored the making of this manuscript [entitled] Phutthavong, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May I reach the three states of happiness with Nibbāna is the ultimate goal. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna.
