The sermon on Visakha (Vesak) day which is corresponding with the full moon day of the sixth lunar month is the important day of Buddhism. Because it is a similar day of happening the most important events in Buddhism in three aspects such as the birth, the enlightenment and the passing away of Gotama Buddha. The content relates since after the enlightenment of the Buddha, he preached Dhammacakkappavattana sutta to the five ascetics. Thereafter, the Buddha preached a sermon about Anupubbikatha to Yasa Kulaputta, the son of a rich man along with his 54 friends. The Buddha spent for 45 years in propagating his teachings to people. He passed away at his 80 of age in Kusinara on Visakha day. The United Nations names the Vesak day as the important day of peace of the world. His Holiness Somdet Pha Sangkharat (Supreme Patriarch) Thammanyana Maha Thera from Vat Suvannaphummaran or Vat Mai, Luang Prabang, had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this Dhamma script [entitled] Visakha Thammathetsana, to worship and prolong the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May wishes and desires of mine come true. May this be a condition to reach Nibbāna in the future, amen, amen!.
