ມາຕຸໂປສະກະສູດ. ຄັ້ງນັ້ນ ມາຕຸໂປສະກະພາມ ໄດ້ເຂົ້າເຝົ້າພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກເຈົ້າເຖິງທີ່ປະທັບ ສົນທະນາປາໄສກັບພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າ ແລ້ວນັ່ງລົງທີ່ຄວນຂ້າງໜຶ່ງ ໄດ້ຂາບທູນພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າວ່າ ທ່ານພະໂຄດົມຜູ້ຈະເລີນ ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າສະແຫວງຫາພິກສາ(ອາຫານ)ໂດຍຊອບແລ້ວລ້ຽງມານດາແລະບິດາ ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າທໍາເຊັ່ນນີ້ ຊື່ວ່າ ທໍາກິດທີ່ຄວນທໍາຫຼືບໍ່? ພະພຸດທະອົງຕັດວ່າ ແມ່ນແລ້ວ ພາມ ທ່ານເຮັດແນວນີ້ ຊື່ວ່າ ໄດ້ທໍາກິດທີ່ຄວນທໍາແລ້ວ ດ້ວຍວ່າ ຜູ້ໃດສະແຫວງຫາພຶກສາໂດຍຊອບແລ້ວແລ້ວລ້ຽງມານດາແລະບິດາ ຜູ້ນັ້ນຍ້ອມໄດ້ບຸນຫຼາຍ.
Matuposaka Sutta. Matuposako Brahmin (The Brahmin who nourished his mother). At the time, Matuposako Brahmin approached the Buddha, exchanged friendly greetings and sat on a side. The Brahmin said to the Buddha: “Good Gotama, I earn righteously and nourish mother and father. Good Gotama, acting thus am I doing my duties?” The Buddha said, Very well, Brahmin, acting thus you are doing your duties. Brahmin, he who earns by righteous means and nourishes his mother and father accrues much merit.
