The Dhammapada story of Culasubhadda. Anathapindika and Ugga, the rich man from Ugga, were friends. Ugga had a son while Anathapindika had a daughter. When their children came of age, two parents orginaised the marriage of their two children. After the marriage took place, and Culasubhadda, the daughter of Anathapindika, had to stay in the house of her parents-in-law. But her parents-in-law family were followers of Nigantha Nataputta. One day, Culasubhadda told her mother-in-law about the Buddha and his unique qualities. The mother-in-law of Culasubhadda was very anxious to see the Buddha. She even agreed to let Culasubhaddha invite the Buddha for alms-food to their house. Seeing the Buddha in his splendour and glory, the parents-in-law of Culasubhadda were very much impressed and they paid homage to the Buddha. They gave alms-food and made other offerings to the Buddha and his disciples for seven days. Colophon: Folio 26 on the verso side: Sangkatrasa 68 (corresponding with CS 1168), a hwai nyi year. The royal king sponsored the making of this manuscript entitled Thammabot (Dhammapada) to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
