Jinapanjara gatha is a Pali Paritta chant was discovered by Somdet Phra Buddhacarya Toh Brahmaramsi (1788–1872), abbot of Wat Rakhang Khositaram, Bangkok from an ancient manuscript from northern Thailand. The Somdet Toh modified the incantation and made it more complete. It is one of the most popular texts that widely chanted in Thailand. It is assumed that the Jinapanjara was authored by a Lanna monk. The meaning of Jinapanjara is the ‘the armor of the Buddha’. The content tells the Buddha’s victory over the Mara and invitation of the virtues and power of other 28 Buddhas since Tanhamkara Buddha onward and the virtues of the Buddha’s disciples and other arahants to prevent the reciters and listeners from any dangers, diseases and black magic. It is believed to have the great power to protect from any dangers, enemies and to be greatly beloved. Colophon: Folio 79 on the recto side: Mahasangkat (AD) 1908, the fourth day of the waxing moon of the eleventh lunar month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). I am Mòm (monk) Man from Vat Nong copied these Pali spells, gallibladder and liver from the textbook of the small chant and middle chant.
