Title in original script: கலை ஞான சூத்திரம்- 1200 The manuscript is composed of a text which contains an introductive leaf and palm leaves numbered from 1 to 155; the leaves 94-95 and 142-143 are missing. Its condition is average as the leaves from 39 to 144 have been partly bitten by rodents. The text, entitled Kalai Ñāṉa Cūttiram- 1200 was written in verses by Akattiyar; it is incomplete. The text approach two subjects: preparation of medicines and esotericism. The formulations mentioned in the text are: Medicated Oils: Aiṅkōla tailam. Calcined red medicines prepared from metals and minerals: Raca centūram, Tāḷaka centūram, Nāka centūram, Karuvaṅka centūram and Tāmira centūram. Calcined white medicines prepared from metals and minerals: Aritāra paṟpam, Tāmira paṟpam and Kantaka paṟpam; Cavukkāra cuṇṇam, Muppu cuṇṇam, Kaṟpūra cuṇṇam, Kantaka cuṇṇam and Turicu cuṇṇam Stone-like medicines: Kaṟpūra kaṭṭu, Turicu kaṭṭu and Aritāra kaṭṭu, Pungent medicine: Pūraṇa ceyanīr Wax-like medicines: Liṅka meḻuku and Cavukāra meḻuku; Cāra kuḻampu Mercurial bead: Liṅka kaḷaṅku A specific medicine (kalikkam) for eye. The text provides some information on the combination of three salts (muppu viparam and appu muppu viparam), a crucible made up of five calcined salts (añcu cuṇṇa kukai), alkali and acid drugs (kāracāram), and on two medicinal plants, Boerhavia diffusa (veṇcārai) and Phyllanthus reticulata (karunelli). The esoteric subjects approached by the text specified the eight magic acts (aṣṭa karma) comprising vacīyam (ability to attract a person under one’s own influence), mōkaṇam (ability to to cause libidinous fascination), ākaruṣaṇam (ability to make a spirit or an absent person visible), uccāṭaṇam (ability to send demoniac forces on a person to cause his/her ruin by reciting the appropriate mantiram), tampaṉam (ability to control the natural forces), vittuvēṣaṇam (ability to create hatred between two friends), pētaṇam (ability to provoke separation or desertion) and māraṇam (ability to cause death); the initiation of mystic letters (sounds) among them Ōm (akāra tītcai) and U (ukāra tītcai), and of Ōm na ma ci va ya (caṭāṭcaram); the six chakra-s (mūlātāram, cuvātiṭṭāṇam, maṇipūrakam, aṉākatam, vicutti and ākkiṉai); the method to worship Ganeṣa (Kaṇapati tiyāṉam), Civa and Cakti (Civa Cakti pūjai), and the sun (cūriyaṉ tiyāṉam); the curse (cāpam) caused by Ruttira (sanskrit, Rudra), by the nine planets (navakkirakam) and the universe (caṭāṭcaram); the name of 64 types of art (64 cittu) which include art of secret (marma kula), of glorifying the feminine features (peṇ maya), of attaining supreme (īsvara kula), of the demon (acura kula), of painting/drawing (cittira), and of destroying foes (catru māraṇam) and of evil (makēsvara), as well as it provides explanations on the sun (ravi), the moon (mati) and the fire (akkiṉi). Size of the manuscript 32,7cm x 3,7cm. The palm leaves of the text are numbered from 1 to 155 in Tamil and Arabic; the leaves 94-95 and 142-143 are missing. There are 11 blank leaves among them 3 are digitised. The manuscript is in average condition as the leaves from 39 to 144 have been partly bitten by rodents.
