The volume contains cases brought before the Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between 14 January and 21 August 1858. Reports of cases include the date, the names of the plaintiff and the defendant, and a short title relating to the case. Reference is also made to the oath of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, and of witnesses. It also includes the sentence. The report of a case varies from one paragraph to several pages. The document also contains an index that lists the names of the defendant, and provides the page number. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is damage from iron gall.
