Liberated African Department; Miscellaneous return book [1829-1834]

Description: The main subject of this volume is the provision of supplies for the colony of Sierra Leone. This volume records the articles sent to the Liberated African Department and the stores received. The lists are standardized and the content is arranged according to different articles. Very specific information is provided about the goods and tools supplied, and each item is allocated a specific voucher number. The lists also show where the goods were sent to in the colony. The lists were given the heading: ‘General Abstract of Receipts and Deliveries of Stores under charge of His Excellency Alexander Findlay, Lieutenant Governor and General Superintendent of the Liberated African Department in the Colony of Sierra Leone’. The first list is from 31 December 1829 and the last one is dated 26 August 1834. Extent of original material: 1 volume of 314 folios.
