This handwritten book includes information from postulants who wished to be accepted as religious within the Franciscan Order. Although this book appears in the 'Records' series, it can be classified, due to the characteristics of its content, as a 'Novice Book'. The book contains 102 files of 102 postulants to the Order, covering the years 1765 to 1776. Of this total, 28 applied for Lego religious, 69 for Choir religious and 5 for religious without specification of the profession. At the end of the applicants' files, the following documents that were found loose are attached: 397 copies of baptism certificates, 9 verifications or patents of baptism certificates (17th and 18th centuries), 1 marriage certification and 1 waiver of annulment of profession of religious of the Franciscan Order due to serious illness. In some cases, it presents incomplete documents, that is, there is only the questionnaire made to the witnesses about the faith and good conduct of the applicant or only the information on the legitimacy of the applicant. In only one case, the original file formed a unit, but at the time of binding it was separated. The geographical origin of the applicants is varied: 77 are of Creole or mestizo origin: Cajamarca, Chachapoyas (Amazonas), Chancay (Lima), Chile, Chillia (La Libertad), Chunchanga (Ica), Chota (Cajamarca), Colasay (Cajamarca ), Concepción (Chile), Huamanga (Ayacucho), Huancavelica, Huaraz, Ica, Lima, Moquegua (Peru), Moyobamba (San Martín), Pativilca (Lima), Pomabamba (Ancash), Quito, San Miguel de Acobamba (Junín) , San Pedro de Lloc (La Libertad), Santiago de Chuco (La Libertad), Santiago de Chile, Tapairihua (Apurímac), Trujillo); while the remaining 25 are of peninsular or Hispanic origin: Antequera (Andalusia), Asturias, Bilbao (Basque Country), Córdoba (Andalusia), Granada, Jaén (Andalusia), Jerez de la Frontera (Andalusia), León, Piqueras (Castilla -La Mancha), Pontevedra (Galicia), Ribadeo (Galicia), Rute (Andalusia), Santa María de Pungín (Galicia), Santibañez de Carriedo (Cantabria), Treviño (Castilla y León), Trujillo (Extremadura), Villarrasa (Andalusia).
Este libro manuscrito comprende informaciones de postulantes que deseaban ser aceptados como religiosos dentro de la Orden Franciscana. Aunque este libro aparece en la serie ‘Registros’ puede calificarse, por las características de su contenido, como un ‘Libro de Novicios’. El libro contiene 102 expedientes de 102 postulantes a la Orden, que abarca desde los años 1765 hasta 1776. De este total, 28 postulaban para religiosos Legos, 69 para religiosos de Coro y 5 para religiosos sin especificación de la profesión. Al finalizar los expedientes de los postulantes, se adjuntan los siguientes documentos que se hallaron sueltos: 397 copias de partidas de bautizo, 9 verificaciones o patentes de partidas de bautizo (siglos XVII y XVIII), 1 certificación de matrimonio y 1 desistencia de nulidad de profesión de religioso de la Orden Franciscana debido a situación de enfermedad grave. En algunos casos, presenta documentos incompletos, es decir, solo está el cuestionario hecho a los testigos sobre la fe y buena conducta del postulante o solamente la información de legitimidad del postulante. En un solo caso, el expediente original formaba una unidad, pero al momento de su encuadernación fue separado. La procedencia geográfica de los postulantes es variada: 77 son de origen criollo o mestizo: Cajamarca, Chachapoyas (Amazonas), Chancay (Lima), Chile, Chillia (La Libertad), Chunchanga (Ica), Chota (Cajamarca), Colasay (Cajamarca), Concepción (Chile), Huamanga (Ayacucho), Huancavelica, Huaraz, Ica, Lima, Moquegua (Perú), Moyobamba (San Martín), Pativilca (Lima), Pomabamba (Ancash), Quito, San Miguel de Acobamba (Junín), San Pedro de Lloc (La Libertad), Santiago de Chuco (La Libertad), Santiago de Chile, Tapairihua (Apurímac), Trujillo); mientras que los 25 restantes son de origen peninsular o hispánico: Antequera (Andalucía), Asturias, Bilbao (País Vasco), Córdoba (Andalucía), Granada, Jaén (Andalucía), Jerez de la Frontera (Andalucía), León, Piqueras (Castilla-La Mancha), Pontevedra (Galicia), Ribadeo (Galicia), Rute (Andalucía), Santa María de Pungín (Galicia), Santibañez de Carriedo (Cantabria), Treviño (Castilla y León), Trujillo (Extremadura), Villarrasa (Andalucía).
