ອຸນຫັດສະວິໄຊ ເປັນຄາຖາສັກສິດ ພະສົງນິຍົມໃຊ້ເທດໃນພິທີມຸງຄຸນຕ່າງໆ ເພື່ອກໍາຈັດປັດເປົ່າອັນຕະລາຍທັງຫຼາຍແລະນໍາເອົາຄວາມໂຊກດີມາໃຫ້ແກ່ເຈົ້າພາບແລະຜູ້ຟັງ. ສະໄໝໜຶ່ງ ພະຜູ້ມີພະພາກເຈົ້າປະທັບຢູ່ສະຫວັນຊັ້ນຕາວະຕິງສາ ເພື່ອສະແດງທໍາໂຜດພຸດທະມານດາທີ່ໄດ້ມາເປັນ ເທວະບຸດຊື່ວ່າ ສິຣິມະຫາມາຍາ. ໃນຄັ້ງນັ້ນ ເທວະບຸດຕົນໜຶ່ງຊື່ສຸປະຕິດທິຕາ ຜູ້ທີ່ຈະໝົດອາຍຸໄຂພາຍໃນເຈັດວັນ ຫຼັງຈາກນັ້ນ ຈະໄດ້ໄປຕົກນະຮົກເປັນເວລາແສນປີ ຕໍ່ຈາກນັ້ນ ຈະໄປເກີດເປັນສັດເດຍລະສານຫຼາຍຈຳພວກເປັນເວລາພັນປີ ເນື່ອງດ້ວຍອະກຸສົນລະກໍາທີ່ເຮັດໄວ້ໃນຊາດກ່ອນ. ເທວະບຸດຕົນນັ້ນ ມີຄວາມວິຕົກກັງວົນຫຼາຍ ຈຶ່ງໄດ້ເຂົ້າໄປຫາພະຍາອິນເພື່ອຂໍຄວາມຊ່ວຍເຫຼືອ. ພະອິນໄດ້ພາໄປເຝົ້າພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າ ແລະເລົ່າເລື່ອງສຸປະຕິດຖິຕາເທວະບຸດນັ້ນໃຫ້ພະພຸດທະອົງໄດ້ຮັບຊາບໂດຍລະອຽດ. ຈາກນັ້ນ ພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າ ໄດ້ເທສະໜາອຸນຫັດສະວິໄຊໃຫ້ແກ່ພະອິນແລະສຸປະຕິດຖິຕາເທວະບຸດນັ້ນ ພ້ອມທັງແນະນໍາໃຫ້ ສຸປະຕິດຖິຕາ ຮຽນເອົາຄາຖາອຸນຫັດສະວິໄຊນີ້ທ່ອງຈົ່ມສາທະຍາຍເປັນນິດແລະເຄົາລົບຢໍາແຢງແກ້ວທັງ ໓ ກໍ່ຈະພົ້ນຈາກຄວາມຕາຍນັ້ນ. ສຸປະຕິດຖິຕາມີຄວາມຊົມຊື່ນຍິນດີເປັນຢ່າງຍິ່ງຫຼັງຈາກໄດ້ຟັງທໍາມະເທສະໜາຈາກພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າແລະຈະບໍ່ຕາຍພາຍໃນເຈັດວັນ. ສຸປະຕິດຖິຕາຍັງມີຊີວິດຢູ່ໃນສະຫວັນແລະຈະລົງມາເກີດເປັນບູລຸດແລະບັນລຸເປັນພະອໍລະຫັນໃນສາສະໜາຂອງພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າອະຣິຍະເມດໄຕ.

Unhatsavisai is a sacred text read as a sermon by monks in the auspicious ceremonies for expelling misfortune and bringing good luck to the hosts and liteners. On one occasion, the Buddha was staying in Tavatimsa Heaven to preach the Dhamma to his mother, who had been reborn as a god with the name Sirimahamaya. At that time, the stay of the god Supatithita was about to expire within seven days, after which he was to be reborn as a hell-being for one hundred thousand years, thereafter, various species of animals and the disabled for thousands of lives because of his bad deeds in former lives. He was very upset by this, so he went to ask for help from Indra who then led him to the Buddha. Indra told the Buddha everything about Supatithita. The Buddha then preached the Unhatsavisai to Indra and Supatithita, instructing Supatithita to recite the verse of Unhatsavisai and pay respect to the Triple Gem regularly. He would be escape from the death. Supatithita was very happy after listening to the sermon and not to die within seven days. He still lives in the heaven and will be reborn as a man and attain Arahantship in the time of the coming Buddha, namely Ariya Metteyya.
