The story pertains to a Yak (giant) who had high rank and one thousand followers. He often ascendeded to present Vessuvan in Chatumaharajika heaven. Vessuvan or Vaisravana was the chief of the four heavenly kings guarding the four directions on Earth. He was also the king of Yaksas and the protector of the north. King Vessuvan asked the giant the reason why he often visited him. The giant replied that he desired a residence in the human world. The king thus gave him ten puzzles. The giant had to ask any human whom he met to figure out the answers. If somebody could answer the questions correctly, the giant had to give silver, gold, and cloth to that person. If not, the giant could feed on them. Then, the giant descended to the world and asked the puzzles to people. Nobody could answer them correctly, so they all became the giant’s food. Colophon: Folio 17 on the recto and verso sides: Chunlasangkatrasa (CS) 1287, a kap chai year, on the full moon day of the eleventh lunar month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng laeng (between 13.30–15.00 o’clock). Novice Suk from Nakham village together with his lay mother, sisters, brothers, all siblings and relatives had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Pannyaparami Nyòtkaeo to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May the results of this merit support my father named Saen Sitha and my mother named Saen Champa. We all sponsored the making of this manuscript and dedicated to them, may they be free from a misery place. If they are in a misery place, move them to a good place. If they are in a good place, may they be better than ever by one hundre and thousand times. May we all enter into Nirvana. May our desires and wishes not be ignored. definitely. May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana. Nirvana is the greatest bliss, certainly. Missing or overlapping, may I not be sinful. I was ordained in younghood, so I did not touch a breast of girl.
