Once upon a time, King Atitavangsa of Rajagaha had his queen named Buathongthevi and had two sons, Khun Khan and Khun Thong or Khun Lu. Later, King Atitavangsa passed away and was reborn in the Brahma realm. Queen Buathongthevi ruled the kingdom instead. As the two sons grew upr, the mother appointed Khun Khan to be the king of the kingdom. As for Khun Thong, when he met Ms. Ua Khiam and they fell in love. Khun Thong told his mother and relatives to ask for her. However, Ua Khiam's mother refused and prevented the two from marriage. Colophon: Folio 11 on the recto and verso sides: Chunlasangkatrasa 25101 (corresponding with BE 2511), a poek san year, on a kap chap day, Friday, the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng laeng (between 13.30–15.00 o’clock). The initiator, Sathu (Monk) Phaeng had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Niyai Thao Khunthong and Uakhiam (Tale of Khunthong and Uakhiam) to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha. May the results of this merit support me through this life and the future lives, definitely. Sabba dukkhaṃ nibbanaṃ paccayo hontu. To last until I enter into Nirvana.
