Sakkaban (Sakkapabba) the tenth episode of a total of 13 episodes of the Vessantara Jataka with 46 verses. Sakkaban or Sakkapana means the section on Sakka, the content mentions about Sakka or Indra thought that in the future if someone asked for Princess Maddi, Vessantara would agree. That would make his practice difficult because of nobody taking care of him. Sakka assumed the guise of a Brahmin and asked for Princess Maddi. Vessantara gave her willingly. Then the Brahmin returned Maddi to him along with eight blessings including, ‘May the people of Sivi forgive him and bring him back the kingdom’. Colophon: Folio 18 on the recto side: Chunlasangkatrasa (CS) 1286, a kap chai year, on the fifth day of the waxing moon of the sixth lunar month, the fourth day of the week (Wednesday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). Phia Phaibunsavat or Thit Pheng and his wife, Nang Phia Buddi together with all their children, grandchildren from Pakham village jointly had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Mahā Vessantara Jataka to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May all our desires and wishes with Nirvana as the ultimate goal, come true. May the results of this merit support us through this life and the future lives, really. May the results of this merit support us to be free from the saṃsāra and cut the five obstructions off and reach Nirvana as our wishes. May this be a condition for me to reach Nirvana in the future.
