There are many stories in this manuscript, such as: Salòng sāksop sāthu āichua (rewards derived from the cremation of the corpses of monks and novices), Sòng phua phao mia (rewards that the husband gains from the cremation of his wife), Sòng mia mian khāp phua (rewards that the wife gains from the cremation of her husband), Sòng pho mae mian khap luk (rewards that the parent gains from the cremation of their children), Sòng pho mae lae khon yhang lai baep mai (rewards that the children gains from the cremation of their parents, and rewards derived from the cremation of general people). Some part of the text tells that any person with a charitable mind cremate the remains of the monks and ordinary people will have a lot of blessings. The results of themerit will bring happiness fand fulfiil with worldly property and heavenly property. After death, the person will be born in the brahma world, will not fall into the four lower worlds, namely hell, ghost-sphere, host of demons and animal kingdom. Colophon: Folio 28 on the recto side: Buddhist Era (BE) 2511, on the first day of the waxing moon of the seventh lunar month, Saturday, the writing was accomplished at the time of thiang van (between 10.30–12.00 o’clock). Chan Hüan and his wife, Sao Bang together with all their children and grandchildren jointly had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this Dhamma manuscript [entitled] Sòng Sop (Rewards derived from the organization of the cremation), in a bundle of five fascicles in order to be hereditable in the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May we reach the three states of happiness with Nirvana as the ultimate goal. Well done, well done. These five manuscript-fascicles belong to Vat Xiang Maen. Anyone who borrows must give them back.
