The preaching on the rewards wich derived from listening to and reciting the Culla Jayamangala Gatha or Sai nòi (lit. small victory). The Sai nòi sutta or the Culla Jayamangala Gatha is the verses on the victories of the Buddha over all the devils. It is over the power of Indra, Brahmas, maras, devas, the four heavenly kings, garudas, nagas, ghosts, demons and all dangers. It is believed the most powerful sutta, able to get rid of all devils and dangers to the reciters and the houses and cities. In the past, the sutta was popularly recited in order to protect the country during war, and to win the fighting. At present, it is regularly recited in an auspicious ceremony such as the ceremony for a new house. Colophon: Folio 9 on the recto side: Buddhist Era (BE) 2514, a huang mot year, on the eighth day of the waxing moon of the ninth lunar month, the fifth day of the week (Thursday). Phothipannya from Banna temple had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript [entitled] Sap Sai, to dedicate to my mother named Sao Pheng who died and was born in the other world. Even if she is in the heaven, may she stay in a good place. Even if she is in an Aveci, may she be escaped. Even if she is suffered in this world, may she be born in the heaven and not returned. May the results of this merit support her. Well done, well done. May this pure gift of mine be for Nibbāna which is the greatest bliss certainly. May I reach the greatest bliss, definitely.
