Anakhatavong or Anāgata Vamsa is a Buddhist scripture that tells about the 10 Bodhisattvas who will become Buddhas in the future after our Gotama Buddha. These 10 bodhisattvas will perform completely the perfections. Our Buddha prophesied to Venerable Sariputta that after him there will be 10 Buddhas in the world. When they have performed the 30 perfections completely, they will have equal Buddha’s power. Ariya Metteyya Buddha will be the first Buddha from this. He is an arahant, a fully-enlightened Buddha, endowed with wisdom and conduct, well-farer, knower of the worlds and the teacher of dieties and human kinds. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1238, a hwai chai year, on the first day of the waning moon of the ninth lunar month, a hwai sanga day, the first day of the week (Sunday), a huang mao day, the writing was accomplished at the time of tut sai (between 12.00–13.30 o’clock). The Royal King of the front golden palace, together with his royal father and mother, children, grandchildren and relatives had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript-bundle entitled Lam Anakatavongsa (Preaching on the Future Family of the Buddhas), to support the Teaching of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May all our wishes and desires come true. Nibbāna paccayo hotu no niccaṃ dhuvaṃ paramaṃ sukhaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nirvana, constantly and certainly, the greatest bliss).
