Caturarakkha means the four protective meditations including Buddhanussati (recognition of the Buddha); Metta (loving-kindness) is to wish others to be happy; Asubha (unattractiveness), contemplating the body to see it is not beautiful; and Maranassati (mindfulness of death). Buddhanussati, the recognition of the virtues of the Buddha that are the three virtues consisting of wisdom, compassion and purity. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Chunlasangkatrasa (BE) 2490, a poek si year, on the second day of the waning moon of the twelfth lunar month, a poek sanga day, Monday, the writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of kòng laeng (between 13.30–15.00 o’clock). The initiators, Thao (Mr) Kaeola and his wife, Sao Pong together with all their children had the most ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Sang Phet, to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years.
