ໃນສະໄໝໜຶ່ງ ພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າປະທັບຢູ່ໃນນິໂຄທະອາຣາມ ຂ້າງແມ່ນໍ້າໂລຫິນີ ເມືອງກະບິນລະພັດນະຄອນ. ໃນຄັ້ງນັ້ນ ພະພຸດທະອົງຊົງສະແດງພະທໍາມະເທສະໜາເລື່ອງເມດໄຕຍະສູດດວງນີ້ແກ່ພຸດທະບໍລິສັດທັງຫຼາຍ ເຊິ່ງພັນລະນາເຖິງບຸນຍະສົມພານແຫ່ງພະອະຣິຍະເມດໄຕໂພທິສັດ ອັນໄດ້ບໍາເພັນປາຣະມີ ໓໐ ທັດ ໄດ້ ໑໖ ອະສົງໄຂປາຍແສນມະຫາກັບ ແລະຈະໄດ້ຕັດສະຮູ້ເປັນພະພຸດທະເຈົ້າອົງທີ ໕ ໃນພັດທະຣະກັບນີ້. ໃນຄັ້ງນັ້ນ ເມດໄຕຍະໂພທິສັດ ໄດ້ປະຕິສົນທິໃນທ້ອງແຫ່ງພະນາງກັນຈະນະເທວີ ພະອັກຄະມະເຫສີແຫ່ງພະຍາອາຊາຕະສັດຕູ ໃນເມືອງຣາຊະຄຶ. ເມື່ອພະໂພທິສັດປະສູດອອກມາ ມີຊື່ວ່າ ອະຊິຕະກຸມມານ. ເມື່ອອະຊິຕະຈະເລີນໄວໄດ້ ໑໖ ປີ ພະຣາຊະບິດາກໍ່ໃຫ້ບວດໃນພະພຸດທະສາສະໜາ.
On one occasion, while dwelling at the Nighodaram where was aside Rohini River in Kappilavatthu, the Buddha delivered a sermon of this Metteyya Sutta to his disciples. The content tells about Metteyya Bodhisatta who has accomplished the thirty perfections for sixteen asaṁkhyeya and one hundred great eons and will become the coming Buddha, the fifth Buddha of this kappa (eon). At the time, Metteyya Bodhisatta came to the womb of Kancanadevi, the queen of King Ajatasattu of Rajagaha. When the Bodhisatta was born, he was given a name as Ajita. At his age of 16, his father let him to be ordained as a novice in Buddhism.
