On one occasion, while the Buddha was dwelling at the Jetavana monastery in Savatthi, the Buddha spoke to his disciples about a poor man who lived in Savatthi, earned with selling wood for making fire and banana leaves. One day, the day was a Buddhist holiday, he entered the forest for looking for the wood and banana leaves. He met a monk who was observing the precepts and practicing meditation. He asked the monk that what is your purpose of living in the forest? The monk replied that he lives in the forest for observing the precepts. Hearing that, the man became faithful in the monk. So, he built a pavilion and a pond for the monk. Thereafter, he brought food for the monk. Due to the results of donation of the pavilion, after the death he was born in Tavatimsa heaven with enjoying the divine property and surrounded by faries as his servants. Colophon: Folio 14 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa 111 hundred and 313 (corresponding with CS 1113), a tao san year, the sixth day of the waning moon of the second lunar month, the sixth day of the week (Saturday), a tao si day. Saen Phalavisasan and his wife had the ardent religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript-bundle entitled Sappha Sòng to support the Teachings of the Buddha. May the results of this merit support our parents and siblings who already passed away to the other world. May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna.
