Maharat or Mahārāja the eleventh episode of a total of 13 episodes of the Vessantara Jataka with 69 verses. Maharat means the great king, the content tells Jujaka took the two children Jali and Kanha to his hometown in Kalinga. At the night, he cribbed and slept on the tree, while the two children were bound to the trunk. However deities took the shapes of Vessantara and Maddi to nurture and protect them. On the coming morning they continued their journey, but Jujaka lost the way and directed to Sivi which was the city of King Sanjaya, the grandfather of the two children. When King Sonjaya saw his grandchildren, he was so overjoyed and ransomed the two young princes from Jujaka. The king also fed Jujaka with delicious food. With hungriness for many days, Jujaka overate. Finally his bloated stomach with indigestion was broken out and then he died. Colophon: Folio 25 on the recto side: Buddhist Era (BE) 2472, a kat sai year, the sixth day of the waxing moon of the first lunar month, the first day of the week (Sunday), the writing was accomplished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30–9.00 o’clock). The great king named Sisavang Vong and his queen Khamfan are the principal initiators sponsored the making of this manuscript-bundle containing 16 fascicles of Maha vessantara sadok and one fascicle of Sòng as 17th, in order to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the of 5000 years. May the results of this merit support us to escaped from the Samsara (round of rebirths) and the five mara (the five destroyers) and finally reach Nibbāna which is the greatest bliss. Ahaṃ arahanti bhikkhuni mama santike ariyametteyyo pāpunāti nibbānaṃ paramaṃ sukkhaṃ niccaṃ dhuvaṃ.
