Vinaya text on the five precepts. Sīla (morality) means the normality of physical and verbal behaviors, which is the principal doctrine and basic morals of the Buddhists. The five precepts consist of: 1. Refrain from taking life. 2. Refrain from taking what is not given. 3. Refrain from sexual misconduct. 4. Refrain from wrong speech. 5. Refrain from intoxicants that cloud the mind. Colophon: Folio 24 on the recto side: Sangkatrasa 1218, a hwai si year, the fourth day of the waning moon of the seventh lunar month, the first day of the week (Sunday), a moeng pao day. The writing of this manuscript was finished at the time of kòng ngai (between 7.30 - 9.00 o’clock). Maha Somdet Akkhavora Rasakhru, abbot of Vat Saiyasirarama had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Vinaya Hòm with a total of 5 fascicles, to support the Teachings of Gotama Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. May my wishes and desires come true. May this be a condition for me to reach Nirvana which is the greatest bliss certainly.
