Kammavaca (the formal words of an act) with the text mostly written in Pali is used for an ordination ceremony. General speaking, the kammavacha (kammavācā) deals with the set of questions and answers which is used in an ordination ceremony. In the ceremony, the ordaining monk must answer several “yes or no” questions posed to him by a monk on his right during a chant called Pha Kammavachanchan (Act-announcing teacher) who faces another monk on the left called Pha Anusavanachan (Ordination proclaiming teacher). Colophon: Folio 23 on the recto side: Sangkat (CS) 1245, a ka mot year, on the fourteenth day of the waxing moon of the seventh lunar month, the first day of the week (Sunday), a hap chai day, the writing of this manuscript was accomplished at the time of tut sai kang van (between 12.00–13.30 o’clock). Sathu Kom Maha Lek (Prince of the department of Royal Attendants) had the religious faith to sponsor the making of this manuscript entitled Sap Kammavacha, to support the Teachings of the Buddha to last until the end of 5000 years. Nibbāna paccayo hontu no niccaṃ dhuvaṃ (May this be a condition for us to reach Nibbāna constantly and certainly).
