This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript titled ‘Periya vaḷḷiyam'maṉ am'māṇai’ from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. This manuscript is written by K. U. Katirēcapiḷḷai from Batticaloa in 1896. ‘Periya vaḷḷiyam'maṉ am'māṇai’ is about songs that describes the marriage of Lord Muruga with Valli. It contains Kaṭavuḷ vāḻttu, kaṇapati, murukaṉ, carasvati, kuru vāḻttu. This manuscript contains only 310 pages and 1240 songs in it. The letters are clear to read. The beginning pages of this manuscript belongs to 19th century. The protective cover is made up of ebony (Diospyros ebenum). Mostly manuscripts from Batticaloa have been made of ebony, which may have been used for long-term protection of the manuscripts. Extent: 310.0.
