This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript titled ‘Periya vaḷḷiyam'maṉ am'māṇai’ from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. This manuscript is written by Ci. Vēlāppōṭi. The year of this manuscript is not mentioned however it is estimated to be from 19th century. This manuscript belongs to Maṅkalar vēlāppōṭi from Ampiḷāntuṟai. ‘Periya vaḷḷiyam'maṉ am'māṇai’ is about songs that describes the marriage of Lord Muruga with Valli. It contains Kaṭavuḷ vāḻttu, kaṇapati, murukaṉ, carasvati, kuru vāḻttu. This manuscript contains only 336 pages. The letters are clear to read. The protective cover is made up of ebony (Diospyros ebenum). Mostly manuscripts from Batticaloa have been made of ebony, which may have been used for long-term protection of the manuscripts.
