This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript titled ‘Vaḷḷiyam'maṉ am'māṉai’ from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. This manuscript is written by M. Kāḷikkuṭṭippōṭi. It is difficult to determine the exact age of the original manuscript. However, it is estimated to be from 1801-1899. ‘Vaḷḷiyam'mmāṇai’ is about songs that describes the marriage of Lord Muruga with Valli. The songs are written in am'māṇai mettu. The manuscript starts with songs of “Kaṇapati and Muruga, Saraswati”. This manuscript contains the birth of Valli, tiruviḷaiyāṭalkaḷ of Muruga, Nāratar alakam, Murukaṉ vaḷḷi cantippu, Murukaṉ vaḷḷi kadhal, Help of Piḷḷaiyār to Murugan, and the marriage of Murugan to Valli. This manuscript contains 276 pages and letters are clear to read. The manuscript is in good condition and the protective cover is made up of ebony (Diospyros ebenum). Extent: 276.0.
