Esta carta, fechada el 15 de enero de 1920 y enviada por Carlos Philipps al presidente de la Federación de Estudiantes del Perú, detalla un acto de violencia y despojo perpetrado contra él y el universitario Ernesto Byrne y Valcárcel. Philipps denuncia que el 8 de enero, Emilio V. Crosby, empleado de las Empresas Eléctricas Asociadas, junto con otros individuos, irrumpió en su domicilio en su ausencia, violando las cerraduras y expulsando a Byrne de la residencia, para luego clausurar las puertas.
